“I think theater will be one of the most important art forms in the 21st century, because we live in the illusion that we can live in a community via our computer. I think that people will crave live experiences.”

Ivo van Hove, Artistic Director of Toneelgroep Amsterdam, is known for a minimalist and expressionist approach to plays such as A View from the Bridge, Network and West Side Story. He’s particularly respected for his meticulous preparation. His many honors include a Tony Award, an Olivier Award, a Drama Desk Award, a Critics Circle Theatre Award (all for A View from the Bridge) and two Obie Awards as well as the Prijs van de Kritiek, the Prosceniumprijs and several other European awards. He was made a Knight of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres (France) in 2004.
