Malcolm Purkey was the Director of The Market Theatre (now called the John Kani Theatre) in Johanessburg, South Africa, between 2005 and 2013. He’s most noted for workshop-based theater, and for popular productions of The Threepenny Opera. Other noted productions include "Ain’t Misbehaving and The Girl in the Yellow Dress (2011). He’s been honored with the Breytenbach Epathlon for Best Director and the Olive Schreiner Award for Dramatic Literature among other awards. In 2014 he became Dean on the South African School of Motion Picture Medium and Live Performance, Johanessburg.
