Sir Richard Eyre has directed in every stage form – Shakespeare, straight drama, musicals and opera. Between 1987 and 1997 he was the director of London’s National Theatre, London. His other work includes productions at The Royal Opera House and The Metropolitan Opera House. He’s the recipient of numerous honors, among them five Olivier Awards including The Olivier Lifetime Achievement Award and three Evening Standard Awards. He's been appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire and Member of the Order of the Companions of Honour.
