Stan Lai is one of the most honored directors in the Chinese-language theater, and works as well in The United States. He is Founder and Artistic Director of The Performance Workshop in Taipei and co-founder of The Wuzhen Theatre Festival. In 2015 he founded Theater Above in Shanghai, devoted to producing his plays. His many honors include two National Arts Awards and The Grand Cordon, Order of Brilliant Star (both Taiwan). He's been was named The Most Influential Man of the Year in the field of Culture by Newsweek China and he's been admitted to The Chinese Theater Hall of Fame.
